Home Inspector Continuing Education (CE)

Seminars, Hands-On Field Training, Online Education, and Webinars

Our continuing education is the only North Carolina-specific program focused directly on NC building codes and standards. To keep you ahead of the curve, we develop new courses every year based on industry trends and real-world techniques, offering in-person conferences, seminars, and complete online options that include on-demand coursework with a Board-required live webinar designed to improve your daily inspections. Most North Carolina inspectors need 12 hours of CE each year to renew. However, if your license is less than three years old and you qualified for your licensing exam through alternate experience or licensure rather than a pre-licensing program, your annual hour requirements may be more, but we include those extra state-required hours for free in our complete CE package. No matter where you are in your career, we provide the up-to-date, local training you need to stay compliant.

We are the only continuing education program that does not end when you finish the annual requirements; we are here for you all year. If you have a problem, a question, or just want to share an inspection finding, we are one phone call, email, or text away 365 days a year. 336-350-8970

Understanding Your NC Home Inspector License Renewal

To maintain your license under the North Carolina Home Inspection Licensing Board guidelines, you must complete mandatory continuing education every year. Our courses are fully updated to meet these exact requirements. We combine the mandatory core updates with practical electives that sharpen your skills, focusing on evolving industry trends and the real-world techniques you need on the job.

Why Choose Our Continuing Education Program?

Our training goes beyond basic summaries of building codes. We focus entirely on real-world methods and practical systems knowledge you can actually use. Every course incorporates real examples, defect photos, and clear report writing using the recognized DDID methodology: Describe, Determine, Implication, and Direct. This practical approach helps you avoid reporting mistakes and protects your business from liability.

  • Flexible Offerings: Choose between live seminars or our flexible online options, which combine on-demand coursework with the required live webinar to fit your schedule.
  • Expert Support: Our team remains available to answer your questions and clarify tough inspection topics via text, phone, or email long after your course ends.
  • Staying Compliant: We track and explain the latest code changes for you, keeping your inspection procedures and safety practices completely up to date.

Advanced Services

We offer specialty courses to expand your business and make you a more attractive, one-stop shop for your clients. Through our partnership with Inspector Nation, you can earn certifications in high-value services like Indoor Air Radon Gas Measurement, Mold & Indoor Air Testing, Thermal Vision Inspecting, and Drone Inspections (with a focus on FAA Part 107). These modern offerings take your inspection skills to the next level, providing the expertise and support you need to grow your business whether you are a veteran inspector or new to the field.

Student Testimonials & Success Stories

"As the year progresses, I wanted to express my gratitude for your classes. Each year, your instruction has improved, and this trend has continued since I joined your classes for the first time in 2008. This has been my most successful year in terms of callbacks, which I attribute entirely to your classes. I find myself constantly repeating the thought processes you teach in your classes, particularly the emphasis on 'What are you inspecting and how does it function?' Instead of simply looking for errors or unusual things, it's important to understand how systems work. This year, I discovered five cracked heat exchangers and countless yellow brass PEX failures! I wish you all continued success and am eager to see what I will learn in CE this year."

— Kevin B.

"I have been a home inspector for many years. Bonnie you are one of first people that I have met that loves this job as much as I do. It is crazy, but when I find something exciting my first thought is that I can not wait to send the photograph to you! Thank you so much for helping me with installation guidelines for the cultured stone. I am one of those people who needs to understand every detail. That is why you and Tom are always going to be my choice for my education requirements. Your fast fact sheets on black copper saved me twice last year and I thank you!"

— John M.

"Your safety class on electrical panels, saved my life. I opened a panel and a 220 breaker exploded. The melted plastic flew by face and hit the wall behind me. You know why it did not hit me? Since I took the safety class I have used the golfer side stance that you presented. I have to admit, I was the student who commented in class that Bonnie over thought this material. I have been a student with you for years, I had faith and made some changes to my routine and yes that included safety glasses! When the breaker exploded, I had my body turned to the side and I quickly rotated away from the panel. All of the large plastic pieces missed me and my safety glasses caught a few small pieces. This is a serious job and I thank you for spending time over thinking things so we will not have to. Student for Life."

— Steve K.

"I have always hated CE and thought it was a waste of time, that is until I met Bonnie and Tom. Now I look forward to CE every year. Bonnie and Tom always have great displays that demonstrate new and exciting things about Home Inspection. If there is something new that home inspectors need to know, Tom and Bonnie are the first point of knowledge!"

— Robert B.

"After attending a Seminar with Tom and Bonnie Gregory, I realized that I had never attended a real continuing education seminar. Whenever, I had a question during class they always took time to provide a clear and concise answer that enhanced the current discussion. In addition, I always know that they were just a phone call or email away willing to answer inspection questions. Thanks for everything, Bonnie and Tom."

— Jon H.

"When I first started inspecting, I knew that it was just part of the inspection job to get the dreaded call from a client informing me that I had missed something. The first time I took CE classes with Tom and Bonnie, I was in shock of how many things that I was not reporting. I was not thrilled, because if they were right then I was not doing a great inspection or writing a correct report. I tried to implement the changes and knowledge that they shared, and used the nightly help line service several times through out the year. It is great to be able to call someone and ask a question. I have to admit after 5 years with the Gregory's, my call backs are down to zero! Thank You"

— Paul S.

"I have attended seminars for engineers and code officials over the last twenty year, but I have never learned so much and had time pass so fast. I was actually disappointed when class was over. See you next year!"

— Bill T.

"After taking CE with The Home Inspection Training Center, I wanted to ask for a refund from other classes that I had taken. It was like night and day. Students were controlled, and classes were filled with important information. Not just copies of rules and codes, but real life things I need everyday, like real inspection procedures and writing examples filled with DDID's! See you next year!"
